Your guide to some of the best snacks and drinks in victoria bc

Top Happy Hours

One thing about Victoria is there are an abundance of restaurants and places to eat. This guide will help you try some of the best spots, while not breaking the budget (so you can buy that next house right?). Keep in mind this is in no chronological order!

One of my top choices for Happy Hours in Victoria would be Boom & Batten. They are located on the water right on the cusp of Downtown, but far enough away that parking is still easily accessible. Boom offers some of the best sunsets, cocktails and quality food. Their happy hour runs from 2-5 and is a very popular visit for locals!

My next pick is Bard & Banker, which originally opened in 1885 as the Bank of British Columbia! This restaurant has a lot of history and a great ambience for socializing, good pub food, and frequent live music. Their happy hour includes mimosa towers, cocktails, drafts, oysters by the shuck, and other great grub!

If you love seafood, this next ones for you...

If you’re currently living on Vancouver Island or have plans to, then I suspect there may be some seafood lovers reading this…This ones for you! Finns restaurant is another historic building in Victoria with fantastic history, dating back to 1882. Their menu offers a large array of delicious seafood options, and the drinks to go with it! Wines, drafts, highballs and more at their 3:30-5pm happy hour.

This next one is a bit of a hole in the wall place, “Little Jumbo”. It has only been around for 9 years in Victoria, but it has won best cocktails of the city four years in a row! They have a unique drink list and some fantastic food choices. Definitely a box ticker if you are a cocktail connoisseur.

Now some in the greater victoria area

Of course right downtown will be where most of the fancy or long-time run restaurants will be, but there are a number of great options in Greater Victoria as well that may be a little more low-key. I will save you the backstory not these places, but just know they are delectable!

  1. In the Westshore there is Liberty Kitchen, located in Belmont Market. There is an Italian spin on a large portion of their menu and is one of the go to places to pop by for a bite in the business world.
  2. Original Joes. The perfect place to pop in for some great pub style bites and drafts! There are a couple locations in Greater Victoria to choose from, can’t go wrong with OJ’s!
  3. Next we have 5th Street Bar & Grill. This is home to some fun “bingo music nights” and fabulous wood fired pizzas. A neighbourhood classic near Hillside!
  4. Now this last one does have a happy hour…but I want to highlight their Wing Wednesday! Some of the best wings in the city and over 48 different flavour choices! Home to some fun comedy nights and events. A bit of a dive bar, but if you’re looking for great food and fun, this is the spot to be!

Although this is highlighting just a few of my favorite happy hours, Victoria has so many more amazing spots to offer. If I missed your favorite please send me a message so I can add it to the list! Happy eating and drinking!
